First Edition: 361 pages of letterpress and 160 plates from line drawings,  portrait of the author as frontispiece and three photographic plates, folding map, bound in later library style green cloth with gilt titling on the spine the cloth is lightly insect scarred and soiled, marbled endpapers with cloth hinges, water stain at the bottom of the fore-edge not affecting the text, contents and plates are in very good condition.

Gunn (Mary) & Codd (L.E.) Botanical Exploration of South Africa, Cape Town 1981, pages 323-324. Sim's Forest and Forest Flora was his major work along with his Forest Flora and Forest Resources of Portuguese East Africa. Both books were illustrated with his clear-cut and rather diagrammatic sketches and are milestones in our knowledge of the tree flora of Southern Africa.
