First Edition: 316 pages, woodcut printer's device on the title page, original black cloth titled gilt on the spine – top corners lightly bumped, browning on the endpapers, a very good copy in the dust jacket designed by Hannes Bok - the jacket is printed on thick stock paper and spirit varnished, it is slightly frayed along the edges and with the hint of foxing at the folds, it is not price clipped with the price $3.00 at the top of the front flap.

Editor's note on the dust jacket: ‘Among the twenty-one tales in Frank Belknap Long's first collection are some of the most popular stories which appeared in Weird Tales and Unknown Worlds, since the inception of those magazines. One of the earliest contributors to the first of those magazines, Frank Belknap Long's work has gathered an increasing number of adherents, who will greet this initial collection of his stories with fervent hosannas. Here are all the best of Frank Belknap Long's stories, selected by himself, published over the past twenty years. The variety and range of Frank Belknap Long's prose is clearly evident in this collection. Whether he is writing science-fiction of a superlative excellence, as in Bridgehead, whether he is writing a tale of pure horror, like The Ocean Leech, or whether he is creating an amazing fantasy, such as Golden Child, Frank Belknap Long writes in a style which is distinctively his own.

The colophon on the final unnumbered page reads, 'Twenty-five hundred copies of this book have been printed and bound by The Collegiate Press, George Banta Publishing Company, Menasha, Wisconsin. This book is set in Intertype Garamond and printed on White Winnebago Eggshell. The binding cloth is Holliston Black Novelex,'

The bibliography records 2602 copies as the total edition the 102 copy difference being explained as printer's overruns.
