240 pages, colour frontispiece, map, plans, numerous colour and black & white plates and illustrations, brown skivertex with gilt vignette on upper cover, titled gilt on the spine , housed in the original publisher's brown slipcase which is illustrated with scenes from Rourke's Drift on the sides.
Slipcase shows scuffing and wear to picture area's. Book binding and pages in very good condition.
This impressive volume was published to coincide with the centenary of the Zulu War in 1979, and came out with the slipcase.

The book includes beautiful reproductions of 50 little known colour glass lantern slides, painted during the Zulu War of 1879. Also reproduced are paintings from private collections, regimental museums and archives.
