Large cloth covered portfolio case containing six fine reproductions of paintings by artist/explorer Thomas Baines. Limited Edition number 36 of 500. The verso of each print features a reproduction of the original Baines inscription describing the scene as present on the original painting. The portfolio also contains a 20-page letterpress insert with information about Baines and a list and description of the plates. Light wear and staining to case, some foxing on one plate, not interfering with artwork, else very good.
The portfolio comes with 'Souvenir Catalogue of the Thomas Baines Exhibition", a 40-page illustrated booklet that was issued for an exhibition at the Rhodes National Gallery in Salisbury, Rhodesia in 1960. In very good condition.
