Czech (Dr Kenneth) An Annotated Bibliography of African Big Game Hunting Books 1785-1999, (New Edition 2011), page 198, ‘A German sportsman, Mohr travelled to the Victoria Falls “partly for the sake of hunting, partly in the hope of making geographical discoveries.” After landing at Cape Town, he and his companions ventured into the interior, crossing the Tugela River and enjoying a wide variety of sport. Eland, buffalo, black rhinoceros and kudu were bagged. Near the Matopo Mountains, they hunted eland and wildebeest with Dreyse needle-guns, an early form of breech loader that would achieve great fame in the Franco-Prussian War which was being waged during Mohr’s expedition. Marching from Tati to the Zambesi, lion and elephant were collected, with additional rhino and buffalo taken near the falls. An excellent work of exploration and sport,'
