"Many persons, who simply read the sections of the Gold Act, have no comprehensive idea of it. The general view is lost in a mass of detail. It has therefore been thought desirable to prefix a concise summary of the main provisions of the Act, in simple language, so that he who runs may read. To this there has been added a short analysis of the alterations effected by this Act, as compared with the Gold Law (No. 15, 1898) hitherto in force. Decisions have been stated as briefly as possible. commentators on the Gold Law have thought it well to state cases with all their details. The object which has here been kept in view is to present leading principles, which may serve for guidance in the future."

Recently rebacked contemporary half leather, with a new brown leather spine and original maroon cloth with a gilt lettering to the front board. New endpapers; Text in English; Collation complete - Title page, (1) page of Contents, (1) page of Preface, 153 pages (including the Appendix, Table of Cases and Index); Binding is tight and firm, recently rebacked with a brown leather spine, overall with a little bumping and discoloration, corners bumped and a few small and negligible surface scratches/scuffing to the boards. New endpapers. Text block/pages very bright and clear, no foxing or markings, only a slight yellowing. Some pages with staring dog-ear, two pages with very small corners missing. Top left corner of the Title page and upper part of the page 25 (the title of the Chapter I - "Precious metals") restored by transparent tape (see pics). Overall a sound copy of this scarce book.
