A collection of articles issued in book form drawn from the early Cape Town Newpaper ‘De Mediator’, published in 1838.
Cornelis Moll (jnr.) was a printer at Shortmarketstraat 12, 1837. He bought a hand-press, the 1st press in Cape Town. He published ‘The Meditator ', a weekly newspaper. This was the 3rd newspaper to be issued in Cape Town. Moll was the owner, editor and publisher of this newspaper, from the office at 31 Burg Street Cape Town. The motto of the newspaper was ' waarheid en onpartydigheid' meaning "truth, fairness & impartiality". This newspaper was in circulation for around 2 years, ending at the end of 1838. Condition: Good. Rubbing, spots of superficial wear and edgewear to boards. Wear and an old sticker to the spine. Small open tear to front endpaper. Previous owner’s signature to title page. Light foxing throughout. More severe small spots of foxing to pp98-104, though text is still legible. Text overall is clean, and book is still well bound.
