WALTER BATTISS COLLECTION

Collection of four items pertaining to renowned South African artist Walter Battiss (1906-1982):

1) Hand-written letter by Walter Battiss, on a South African University letterhead, dated 23.5.70 and addressed to "Dearest Little Sister";

2) His copy of The Wisdom of my Heart (Editions Poetry, 1947) by Henry Miller. William Kentridge designed ex-libris card of previous owner (Warren Siebrits) pasted to front endpaper, 255 pages. Wear to cloth boards, pages browning, loss to page edges, 255 pages;

3) A hand-written Letter from Walter's daughter-in-law, Rain, dated 22.11.2013, proving the book's provenance;

4) Walter Battiss Omvattende Tentoonstelling/Comprehensive Exhibition Catalogue, issued by the Pretoria Art Museum, 1979/80. Paper wrappers, 24 pages, foxing on front cover, creasing to first pages, else Good.

Both letters eligible and in very good condition.
