De Luxe Edition: 331 pages, illustrated throughout with photographs and line drawings by the author, full brown leather gilt, a very good copy.

Number 106 of the De Luxe Edition limited to 125 copies signed by the author and with a specially printed additional sketch of Church Square, numbered 106/125.

A historical record of very interesting photographs of old Pretoria, the administrative capital of the Voortrekkers, Kruger's Transvaal Republic (ZAR). Vintage photos of the earliest buildings, businesses and street scenes are accompanied with explanatory text providing historical background for each image. A map and key of Pretoria as it was in 1889 provide a valuable insight of the layout of the old town and lends geographical context to the images. To old Pretorians the names of the businesses, firms, hotels, their owners, pioneer and commercial activities will bring back pleasant memories of earlier Pretoria.
