This book features a collection of detailed, full-colour plates by Claude Gibney Finch-Davies who was a British soldier, ornithologist and painter. He was a gifted natural history illustrator and produced a series of paintings of birds of South Africa in the early part of the 20th century.
The accompanying text, written by Dr. Alan Kemp, provides a narrative account of each species, detailing its biology and adaptations.
