Second (enlarged) Edition: 3 volumes, 1184 pages continuously paginated, 2 maps - 1 colour, 39 colour plates, numerous text illustrations, original blue cloth, a very good set.

This work was one of the earliest major comprehensive studies devoted specifically to the stapeliads — the remarkable stem-succulent plants including genera such as; Stapelia, Huernia, Caralluma and Orbea (many species then placed elsewhere). It helps organise a confusing group where many species had been poorly described or misidentified.
