". . . The Architectural Beauty of the Old Cape. Photographs from the Arthur Elliott Collection in the Cape Archives. Compiled and introduced by Hans Fransen."
This is one of the most glorious collections of photographs of the Cape, by a master photographer, extending to 244 large pages, with a fine commentary by an acknowledged authority, and beatifully produced.
This copy was briefly in the possession of the South African Public Library in Cape Town until it was replaced by "a perfect copy", although we have been unable to spot the blemish or blemishes that led to its rejection.
Two-colour printed and laminated dustjacket, plum paper boards, white to spine, two-colour printed endpapers, text on 135 g/m2 art paper.
This is a near-fine copy, which appears to have remained unread since its brief acquisition by the library on 10 January 1994. The top of the spine of the dustjacket is slightly chipped, the top of the spine of the book cover is bumped and the foot is rubbed and there are two or three light library stamps.
