Selected captions: Train damaged by Boers, E/Fontein Station; Cape Mail; Hospital Train; Mounted Rand Rifles; Field Marshall Lord Roberts Inspection; Armoured Train; Mafeking Day,Mansion House .


Album contains Johannesburg, Railways and Personal Images. The stamps ( with Germiston date-stamps ) are overprinted E.R.I. (Edward Rex Imperator).This coincided with the British occupation of the Transvaal and the stamps were issued between January 1901 and mid-1902. ( Peace was declared on 31 May 1902 with new Transvaal Colony stamps having been issued the previous month). Images are a selection of photographs in the Album. Not all photographs are captioned.


This item is offered on behalf of the Fitpatrick Library at Addo in the Eastern Cape. Sir Percy Fitzpatrick spent the later part of his life at Addo and is buried in the vicinity. (The lot includes a signed letter from the Library).
