Black & White Budget, a twopenny weekly, was inspired by \"the Transvaal War\", news and pictures of which filled its first two volumes. South African war news still remained the main attraction in the third volume, but diminished in the fourth and was almost completely absent in the fifth volume, after which publication ceased. During its short life, Black & White Budget became famous for its lively war paintings and photographs.

In this offering of about half the 3200 pp published in the five volumes, Vol III is well bound and in very good condition overall; as well as all the issues of Vol III (Nos 26-51, 7 April to 29 September 1900, 800 pp), this binding includes the last issue of Vol II (No 25, 30 March 1900, 32 pp).

The binding of Vol IV is of a lower standard than our Vol III. It contains issues 52-76 in full (6 October 1900 to 23 March 1901, 830 pp).
