Princeton, N.J.: Blanchard, printer, [undated but January – July 1866]. Octavo (8 5/8 x 5 3/4in; 218 x 146mm). Pp. [1-] 65 [-66]; [1-4 July 1866 ‘supplement’].  Title taken from upper wrapper. Stitched (removed from a larger bound volume, probably other similar pamphlets?), but with upper wrapper present (some damage to inner blank margin of wrapper), loose within cream paper outer wrappers. Provenance: William Clench (‘duplicate’ stamp).

2 ALS signed from ‘Mrs. David Brown’, Andrew Brown’s mother, to ‘Prof. Gray’, from Princeton, July 30 and Sept 3, 1886, the first letting the professor know that her son had died on  the 30 April and asking for the professor’s help with her son’s shell collection, the second a covering letter ‘I send you my son’s catalogue of shells, also a list of his Conchological books … please return the list of books but not the shell catalogue’; also included is a 6-page manuscript (in a different hand), a ‘List of Books in the Library of [the] Late A.D. Brown of Princeton N.J.’ – possibly a copy made by ‘Prof. Gray’ in accordance with Mrs. Brown’s wishes?
