A.P.B. Bookstore, Johannesburg, 278 pages, minor tears to spine on dust jacket, 135 x 190mm, also some edgeware, internally, very good, overall condition: good.

In 1926, the author, who was teaching in the Marico district of the Transvaal  visited his parents in Yeoville during the June school holidays. He became involved in a quarrel with his stepbrother, David Russell, and shot and killed him. He was found guilty of murder and sentenced to death . He was 21.

Cold Stone Jug is Bosman's prison memoir. Compared with ee cummings's 'The Enormous Room', Doris Lessing called it "the saddest of all prison books".

"If only the police would leave me alone, they keep on my track, remembering the bad, bad days. I'm getting my stuff published but the past keeps interfering with the present. I'd like a little peace now. I'm harming nobody." Bosman. ( A Portrait from Memory,  George Howard).
