[Five works] in five volumes. Quarto (approx. 10 7/8 x 8 3/8in; 276 x 213mm). Colored paper wrappers.

Rare, and fun: the diaries in particular have an immediacy that is often missing from printed versions of events.   

[Cover title: Private and Confidential. Diary of a Trip up the Kina-Batangan River, by W.B. Pryer, Resident of Sandakan]. [London: W. Greaves & Co., No date, but probably 1883]. 4to. Pp.[1-]2-14[-16].  (Some light soiling).  Original wrappers (slightly chipped and soiled).

Diary of Frank Hatton … during a Mineral Exploring Journey up the Labuk River and overland to Kudat. [London: William Brown & Co., [No date, but probably 1883]. 4to. Pp.[1-]4-20.  (Some light silverfish damage to foremargins).  Original wrappers (split and detached along backstrip, some silverfish damage to covers). *Frank Hatton, of whom great things were expected, 'shot himself by accident'. His father, journalist Joseph Hatton, suspected that his son's guides may have murdered him, but they were vindicated.

Diary of L.S. von Donop, during a trip from Papar to Kimanis via Tambounan, Lobo, and Limbawan. [?London: but probably 1883]. 4to. Pp. [1-]4-14[-16. Original wrappers (upper cover detached, lower cover lacking).

[Drophead title: Report of the first half-yearly meeting of the British North Borneo Company, Held at Cannon Street Hotel, on 27th of June, 1883. Sir Rutherford Alcock, K.C.B. (Chairman of the Company) in the Chair. The meeting was attended by 68 shareholders]. [London: William Brown & Co., no date, but probably 1883]. 4to. Pp.[1-]4-20.  (Some light spotting, old vertical crease).  Original wrappers (split and detached along backstrip, slightly chipped).
