Haworthia Revisited. A Revision of the Genus. And The New Haworthia Handbook

This lot comprises a pair of already rare books on Haworthia by the same author but published almost twenty years apart:

1. Bruce Bayer. Haworthia Revisited. Umdaus Press, Pretoria, 1999, first edition. Unclipped laminated colour-illustrated french-fold dustjacket, green cloth-boards, gilt to the spine, plain endpapers, [x] pp of prelims, including a colour map, + 250 pp of colour- and b/w-illustrated text with distribution maps, appendixes, bibliography, index and list of subscribers. 270 x 220 mm. Condition: as new, except for a small indentation at the bottom of the front of the dustjacket flap.
2. M B Bayer. The New Haworthia Handbook. Foreword by H B Rycroft. National Botanic Gardens of South Africa, Kirstenbosch, Cape Town, 1982. This in itself was a revision of the author's original monograph published a year earlier and based on work by C G Smith and Dr M Courtenay-Latimer. Drawn-on printed linen limp covers, plain endpapers, 124 pp of prelims, text, appendixes and index on wove paper + 20 pp of inserted colour plates on matt-art paper illustrating more than sixty species. 240 x 170 mm. Condition: as new throughout.
