Catalogo Sistematico delle conchiglie terrestri e fluviatili osservate nel territorio di Monfalcone. Gorizia, Italy: dalla Tip. Paternolli, 1838. Octavo (8 ½ x 5 1/2in; 216 x 140mm). Pp. [1-]4-56[-60 including final blank leaf]. 1 lithographed plate. Pink paper wrappers (some damage to backstrip, removed from a larger bound volume, staple stab holes), loose in cream paper wrappers. Provenance: Laurent Guillaume de Koninck (sold via Louis Agassiz to); The Museum of Comparative Zoology (bookplate, with accession number ‘680’).  Something of a polymath, Brumati also studied and wrote on botany, philology and archaeology. Octavo (8 3/8 x 5 3/4in; 212 x 145mm). Pp. [1-]6-19[-20]. Title with shell vignette. Contemporary yellow paper wrappers, stapled within later brown paper wrappers. Provenance: Franz Ritter von Hauer (author’s presentation inscription “all’ Illmo. Sigr. Cavr. Fr. Hauer / omaggio / … Villa”). Hauer was an Austrian geologist and paleontologist.  OCLC 191981890, and other entries.

[and:] Arcangelo D. SCACCHI (1810-1893). Catalogus Conchyliorum regni Neapolitani quae usque adhuc reperit A. Scacchi. Naples: typis Filiatre-Sebetii, 1836. Octavo (8 1/8 x 5 3/8in; 206 x 136mm). Pp. [1-]4-18. 1 lithographed plate. Title vignette, decorative headpiece and tailpiece. Early paper-covered boards. Provenance: unknown recipient (partial penciled author’s presentation inscription to title “Offerto dall’ autoro”). An early work from Scacchi, an Italian Mineralogist, Paleontologist, Geologist and Volcanologist, who “at the beginning of his career … worked on conchology, publishing significant contributions on the Mediterranean … molluscs.” (Shellers from the Past and the Present).

Octavo (9 x 8 1/8 x 5 3/4in; 229 x 146mm). Pp. [1-]4-19[-20 final blank page]. 1 lithographed plate. Title vignette, decorative headpiece. Early oatmeal-colored paper wrappers, stapled within cream paper wrappers. Provenance: Prof. Vittorio Uzielli, Livorno (ink stamp to title). A new edition of a work from Scacchi first published in 1836 (see above).  (4)
