Laminated dustjacket with colour paintings front and back, royal blue cloth-boards with gilt design to the front and gilt lettering to the spine, plain blue endpapers, 116 pp of text in 2 colours with full-colour illustrations throughout, including a double gate-fold of reduced "Panorama of Cape Town", the original of which is 13 feet (5 m) wide.

While Lady Anne Barnard's letters and journals have been available in various published forms for well over a century, the Earl of Crawford and Balcarres, her descendant, writes in his Foreword that: "For the first time, some 200 years after Lady Anne selected and bound up her sketches and watercolours, the entire series is now being made publicly available in full colour, thus enabling a wider audience to appreciate the extent of her artistic talents."

This is a magnificent production.
