MCM / POP Art. - Corita KENT (aka Sister Mary Corita, 1918-1986).
Small collection of prints/posters. [U.S.: undated, probably circa 1968]. 5 offset lithograph posters, on (19 x 17 inches, 483 x 432 mm, and smaller). Condition: excellent.
Fine quality offset litho. copies of the serigraph originals, but I am unsure when they were done. A suite/portfolio with 34 was published by the Pilgrim Press/United Church Press in 1968, but the present images do not appear to be from that edition? However, it is probably safe to date them to ‘circa 1968’?.
“Like a priest, a shaman, a magician, she could pass her hands over the commonest of the everyday, the superficial, the oh-so-ordinary, and make it a vehicle of the luminous, the only, and the hope filled.” (Harvey Cox).
