Published by the Africana Museum, these are reproductions of Baines's paintings from 1864 (seven) and 1862 (one), with the remaining two undated.

The portfolio is inside two pieces of hardboard the same size as the printed sheets (440 x 570 mm), with two of the paintings mounted on the insides of the boards. The image sizes are 240 x 330 or 330 x 240 mm.

The birds illustrated are:

  • Double-Banded Sand Grouse
  • White-Faced Owl
  • Marabou Stork
  • Cape Cormorant
  • Chanting Goshawk
  • Buffalo Weaver
  • Red-Crested Korhaan
  • Gabar Goshawk
  • Crimson-Breasted Shrike

The background features are unusually well detailed and painted.

CONDITION. The images, printed on heavy white cartridge paper, are bright and undamaged and suitable for framing.
