A very good copy in the original red cloth with silver lettering and map on the front board. Occasional light foxing but otherwise a clean tight unmarked copy. Fore and lower edges uncut. One page (13/14) has been badly opened with a resultant chip of the top corner not affecting the text.

2. The Lowveld - Its Wild LIfe and Its People. Cassell & Co. 1929. 288pp. Foreword by J.C. Smuts. Mapped endpapers. Original brown cloth with gilt lettering. Top and fore edges and ffep. lightly spotted and cloth lightly used but generally a very good clean unmarked copy.

3. South African Eden. From Sabie Game Reserve to the Kruger National Park. Cassell & Co. 1937. 312pp. Mapped endpapers. Original red cloth which has a few light spots and minimally faded spine. Slight offsetting to the endpapers, ow. a very good clean unmarked and unfoxed copy. In the scarce dw. which is complete and not price clipped but has some edge wear and some internal tape repairs.

4. Wild Life in South Africa. Cassell & Co. 1947. 364pp. A very good plus clean unmarked copy in the original green cloth,in a like dw. which is price clipped and has a small about 8mm. chip at the base of the spine with a resultant small faded patch of the cloth under the chip.

James Stevenson-Hamilton who was born in Ireland of Scottish parents in 1867,  was trained for the military and fought for Britain in the Second Anglo Boer War and subsequenly also in the First World War. He was appointed as the first warden of the Sabi Nature Reserve in 1902 and was later largely responsible for its enlargement and it's conversion into the Kruger National Park in 1926, where he remained as warden. In all he served the Reserve from 1902 till 1946. The local Tsonga/Shangaan people affectionately named him Skukuza and the Sabi Bridge camp was later renamed Skukuza to honour him. His legacy lives on in his books, of which these four are arguably the most notable. Unusual as a lot and particularly in such nice condition.
