J M (later Lord) Keynes is regarded as one of the leading economists of the 20th century, and this is the book most closely associated with his economic theories. Of South African interest, Arthur (later Sir Arthur) Snelling, UK Ambassador to South Africa in the 1970s, was as a young and junior civil servant Keynes's private secretary in the years leading up to the second world war. CONDITION. Ex-library but little if at all circulated and in near very good condition. Library reference in white at foot of spine, label to front free endpaper and stamps to last 2 leaves and bottom page edge. Cover corners lightly rubbed with small tears at top of spine (2 cm front and 6 cm back). Contents complete and undiscoloured. Some underlining, mainly in pencil but a little ink towards the end.
