1.Charles Russell ORCUTT (1864-1929, publisher). [Wrapper title: The West American Scientist. April 1888. Volume IV. …  No. 36]. San Diego: [no date but 1888]. Octavo. Pp. [54-]55-63 + [i-vi pages of advertisements]. 1 plate, 1 illustration. Original orange/red paper wrappers (staple stab holes), loose in cream paper wrappers. A fine copy – the adverts are very interesting. 

2.C. R. ORCUTT (1864-1929, publisher). [Drop-head title:] Orcutt’s Mexico [Volume One Number One August 1913].  Mexico: [no date but 1913]. Number 1 only (of 3?), square 12mo. Pp. [1-]2-16. (Toned). Stitched (staple stab holes, first and last leaves split at fold), loose in cream paper wrappers. An interesting work, subtitled “Contributions toward an encyclopedia of facts pertaining to Mexico -- its history, ancient and modern, its natural resources, agriculture, commerce, industries, mines and minerals, geography and physical characteristics and especially relative to its fauna and flora” – rare, it seems to have folded after the third issue.

3.Harold Briggs HANNIBAL (1889-1965). [Wrapper title: A Synopsis of the Recent and Tertiary Freshwater Mollusca of the Californian Province.] [Hertford: no date but 1912]. Octavo. Pp. [i; 112-]113-211[-214 including three final blank pages]. 4 half-tone plates. Original cloth-backed blue paper wrappers. Provenance: author’s presentation copy, upper cover inscribed ‘Compliments of H. Hannibal and R. Arnold’.

4.James Graham COOPER (1830-1902). Geological Survey of California J.D. Whitney State Geologist. Geographical Catalogue of the Mollusca found West of the Rocky Mountains, between latitudes 33 [degrees] and 49 [degrees] North.  San Francisco: 1867. Large quarto. Pp. [1-]4-40. Original cream/pink paper wrappers, stapled into cream paper wrappers. (lower cover of original wrappers creased). Provenance: MCZ (pencilled note to verso of title noting the gift of the pamphlet by Josiah Dwight Whitney, dated 16 Nov. 1868). Presentation copy of this offprint, being the whole of Cooper’s work.
