Anton Reichenow (1847-1941) was a German ornithologist. He was considered one of the most important bird taxonomists in Germany and Europe at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries, specialising in African birds from the then German colonies.
Paul Matschie (1861-1926) was a German zoologist. He was head of the department of mammals at the Berlin Zoological Museum from 1890-1926. He described 11 new species of reptiles with one being named in his honour. Matschie's tree kangaroo and Matschie's galago are two mammals that also bear his name.
