London: printed for the Proprietor… and sold by Champante and Whitrow, [undated, circa 1794-1810]. 4 volumes only (of 14), octavo (8 ¼ x 5 1/8 inches). 104 hand-colored engraved plates only. (Title to vol.3, some plates and some text lacking, one plate badly smudged, some browning and spotting, occasional small tears or holes, some light offsetting of text [see images]). Contemporary marbled calf (worn, some leaves loosely inserted).
Over 100 hand-colored plates from this attractive and important work – but, unfortunately, only a fragment of the complete work (4 of 14 volumes). The majority of the images are of birds. The plate counts in the individual volumes are as follows: Volume 3 (Quadrupeds) 21 plates; Volume 5 (Birds) 30 plates; Volume 6 (Birds) 26 plates; Volume 7 (Birds) 27 plates.
