Lithographic title page, 164 lithographic plates of which 133 are delicately hand coloured, half brown leather with gilt titling and decoration on the spine, green cloth covered boards corners worn, green patterned endpapers, some light foxing and browning but generally the plates particularly the colour plates are unaffected, a very good copy.
Most plates have several illustrations on each - mammals, birds (parrots, toucans, birds of paradise), fish, reptiles, insects (butterfly, moth, dragonfly), sea life (jellyfish, coral), manatee, dugong, whale, dolphin etc.
