'A technical account of deep-level mining on the Rand, and its bearing upon the gold-mining industry in its commercial aspect.' - Mendelssohn Vol.I, page 449

'The author, George Alfred Denny (1868-1958), was an Australian geologist and mining engineer who came to South Africa in 1892 and eventually settled here. He wrote several technical books during his career in South Africa: The Klerksdorp gold fields (London, 1897), a description of the geology and economic conditions in the Klerksdorp district, was the standard work on its topic for some time. Diamond drilling for gold and other minerals (London, 1900) was a practical handbook on the use and cost of modern diamond core drills in prospecting and mining. This was followed, despite the disruption caused by the Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902), by The deep-level mines of the Rand and their future development considered from the commercial point of view (London, 1902).' - S2A3 Biographical Database of Southern African Science
