"Diagrams Attached To A Descriptive And Statistical Statement Of The GOLD MINING INDUSTRY Of The WITWATERSRAND. ANNEXURE To The THIRTEENTH REPORT Of The TRANSVAAL CHAMBER OF MINES For The Year 1902."
"Prepared for the Secretary of State for the Colonies and His Majesty's High Commissioner for South Africa, by a committee of consulting engineers appointed by the Chamber Of Mines."
The original report referred to in the title was a 42pp. booklet (which is unfortunately now missing and not included in this lot). The Portfolio, however, is in excellent condition and is complete with all 37 detailed diagrams and map of the Witwatersrand Goldfields from 1902.
Only three copies were located in South African libraries during the SABIB national survey. See: Vol.IV, p.541
A very scarce and early original Johannesburg publication, printed only sixteen years after the city was founded.
The portfolio itself is bound in the publisher's red cloth with black titles on the front panel. Overall in an excellent state of preservation.
