Publisher's original pictorial paper covered boards with leather spine.

viii + 110pp. Illustrated throughout with beautiful woodcut and linocut prints and numerous b & w photographs. Two tipped in plates. Folding map of Libyan desert and colour plan of Cairo at rear.

Bookplate supplied by the publisher to the front pastedown. This bookplate features hieroglyphs, with text to the front pastedown detailing how they should be read.

There is also a chapter on the history, customs and superstitions of the Libyan Desert and the people who live there.

Among the many artists who have contributed to this work are: N. Strekalowsky, M. Fisher, Bernard Rice, Elsa Masters, P. S. Searight, Selah Chiaty, Rameses Younan, and Namhia Saad.
