During his lifetime Mosebi Damane could be recognised as the doyen of Basotho history. When introduced by the Museum archaeologists to the new perspectives and historical depths produced by archaeological research Damane immediately fathomed the potential. He adjusted himself to look at history with new eyes and utterly enjoyed visits to stone-walled sites and former living places of Basotho tribes in the Free State.
