This set brings together two important works on early SA rugby. Shnaps produced a very detailed statistical record which also included the records of every match played between visiting and local teams and complete records relating to South African teams playing abroad. Shnaps was the official statistician of the South African Rugby Board.
Greyvenstein, a Cape Town newspaper journalist authored a number of books on aspects of South African sport, particularly on historical accounts of the growth of rugby in southern Africa. Greyvenstein's first edition of this work was produced in 1977 and became a bestseller. He revised and updated the work for this edition.
