From the introduction: 'This collection of the official publications of the Natal Fly Fishers Club, from its inception in 1972 up until recent times, has a great deal to offer anyone interested in fly-fishing. It will, of course, be of particular interest to members of the Club, who will be able to trace its remarkable growth. Originally members had access to only three stretches of river, and two dams: Trent Lodge on the Little Mooi, sections on the Yarrow and Elands — and Nels and Rawdons Dams. (I have always retained a special affection for Trent Lodge since, as the records show, I caught a three pound brown there on 3rd September 1972!). Members now have (or soon will have), access to no less than twenty stretches of river, some with as many as four beats, and twenty-three dams. The Club started with forty members, present at its first open meeting on 1st March 1972; membership is now limited to 500, and there is a long waiting list. The first publications consisted of a modest three or four roneod sheets. The Club now has a journal, printed on good paper, and adorned with excellent photographs. It has Club rooms, the makings of a comprehensive fly-fishing library, and it offers its members a variety of amusements and information. Also of particular interest to members will be the list of who caught what, when and where. (Perhaps this practice should be reinstated).'
