Paul Klempner was mining engineer who wrote a column on gold shares for the Financial Times. He acquired a small company manufacturing spares for earth moving equipment in his middle years which became our main source of income. In his youth in Austria he had dreamed of training as an architect. In 1936 he emigrated to South Africa where he completed his apprenticeship in the gold mines, then set up his consultancy in Johannesburg.
