1. The Thatcher's Craft.

228pp. Extensively illustrated with monochrome photographic plates and construction diagrams. Orange boards with gilt title to spine. Hardcover in original pictorial dust jacket. Clean internal pages, firm binding. Showing light wear to extremities. Features a clean handwritten ownership provenance note by notable architect John Stegmann on the front flyleaf, recording that the book was a "gift from Bill Mylrea". Also has Stegmann's pencil notes on end paper noting references to page numbers. Tucked inside the text block is an original business letter on company letterhead from pioneering local thatch contractor Ral Meredith of Reed Ceilings, discussing technical structural thatching metrics.

2. Thatch: A Manual For Owners, Surveyors, Architects And Builders.

160pp. Olive boards with gilt to spine. Hardcover in original dust jacket. Illustrated guide detailing architectural management and survey constraints for historic thatched properties. Clean text block and clean dust jacket. A good copy.

A fine two-volume technical reference lot tracking regional British building crafts, structural configurations, and historic property maintenance. Sourced directly from the personal working library of celebrated South African modernist architect John Stegmann, this copy boasts an extraordinary dual provenance. It stands as a physical professional token between the two founding fathers of the Cape Town Cycle Tour—linking engineer Bill Mylrea, who famously co-founded the event alongside Stegmann in 1977 to advocate for cycling infrastructure, with Stegmann's own structural vision as recorded in his own hand. The inclusion of contemporary corporate ephemera from Ral Meredith, the definitive pioneer of commercial reed-ceiling installations in South Africa, adds to its unique architectural provenance.
