Of particular interest is the 2nd South African Air Force Squadron - The Flying Cheetahs - the hardy air warriors from the Union of South Africa. Legendary figures for their courage, wit and camaraderies.
At the rear is a chapter called Hall of Fame. Two South Africans are honoured here. Commandant Johann Philip Derk Blaauw & Commandant Servaas van Breda Theron.
Commandant Johann Philip Derk Blaauw: During WW2 he flew 490 missions.... has piloted 17 different types of military planes and nearly 100 F-51 missions over Korea.
Commandant Servaas van Breda Theron: After WW2 he returned to South Africa and stayed in the South African Air Force. In 1946 he was awarded the Air Force Cross. He went on to command 2 Squadron SAAF and served in the Korean War from September 1950 to March 1951, flying Mustangs. He received a Bar to his DSO for his service in Korea. (wikipedia)
