Juta & Co., 1893; First edition; Size of the book: 22 x 14 cm; Original red cloth hardcovers; Text in English; Collation complete – Title page, XVI, 242 pages (including the Index), with 32 illustrations, folding General Plan of the Diamond Fields Griqualand West in South Africa and folding Geological Map of South Africa; Ex-libris copy, overall in very good condition for the age. Ex-libris label and small annotation by ink to the front paste down, ex-libris stamp and a few small annotations by pencil to the front free endpapers. Binding with usual shelf wear, extremities bumped and little scuffed, corners crushed, some fraying to the spine extremities. Some discolouration, spine little sunned, a few surface scratches to the boards. Otherwise the binding is tight and firm, joints and hinges are whole and secure, only the spine cloth is sligtly separated from the inner spine webbing. Upper page edges of the text block darkened. Pages/text block well preserved, clear and very bright, with a slight yellowing only, no foxing or markings throughout. A sound copy.
