Professor Charles Rist, the famous French economist and former Deputy Governor of the Bank of France, in an advance review specially written for the December, 1949, issue of the South African Journal of Economics, comments:

"Dr. Busschau's book 'The Measure of Gold' is worthy of the widest attention."
"I hope it will attract the attention of all informed people and particularly that of the men who bear the heavy task of restoring international trade to the normal channels which have caused it to prosper in the past."
"His conclusions are of considerable practical importance, since the early restoration of economic prosperity in the world is dependent upon the acceptance or rejection of such conclusions by the govern-ments responsible for monetary policy."
"It is even more important today than ever before to examine his thesis closely, to assess its value, and not to reject it without countering it with decisive objections."
