This Goldfields Atlas was issued in two versions, one being the cheap issue with maps printed on paper and priced 3/6, the other being the more expensive version with linen-backed maps and priced 5/-. This is a copy of the more expensive version with maps on cloth.
Includes a key to the Atlas Maps, 7 page index, and thirteen fold-out maps.
The publisher of this Atlas was "South Africa", a weekly newspaper founded and edited by Edward P. Mathers, who was the author of several very successful books dealing specifically with South Africa's Gold Mining Industry.
On the back cover it is stated that "South Africa" is the great authority on South African Gold Mining, the only recognised European organ of the great South African Gold and other Mining Industries, and that it has the largest circulation of any South African paper or of any Weekly Financial Journal in Europe or South Africa.
